It's a little tricky with panel-related issues, but I'd always recommend contacting the Sony support reps directly to find out rather than taking any one person's opinion about "what they would say".
If you're asking about general opinion or software issue, then yes, this is a great place, but when it comes to hardware and warranty related stuff, straight from the horse's mouth is the way to go.
