This seems to be a long running problem in one form or another.
My older Sony KDL-32wd756 bravia smart TV records the right programme but sometimes shows it in the recordings list with the wrong programme title.
My new KD55A8BU android TV seems to have the correct programme title in the recordings list but in most cases the programme summary is for a different programme. See photo below of new TV recordings list.
The only programme on this list with the correct summary is Miss Saigon. All the others are wrong.
Is this going to be resolved?
Hi,
This very much depends when the recording starts. If the TV gets the wrong information (information of previous broadcast) the title will be wrong.
You might be able to fix this by starting the recording a little later.
Cheers
Peter
If I set the timer to start recording a couple of minutes later I'm likely to miss the beginning of the programme.
As the customer this is not satisfactory.
Perhaps Sony can come up with a technical solution.
Gather the data from the guide at the time the user sets the recording rather than get the data for what is actually being broadcast at the moment timer recording starts. (i.e. The previous show overruns the timer start time so the previous show details get stored).
Alternatively wait a couple of minutes after recording starts and gather the data then.
Personally the first option seems best. The data for the programmes being set is know as is the description so get the data then.
This must be fixable easily.
What about asking the broadcaster to update ontime the epg information so not only Sony tv but any one will work correctly? Or do you think that they manage it in realtime so that if a show is in delay for few minutes they adjust the epg accordingly?
This was one of my major complaints with HDD recording on the TV. The problem is the recordings simply follow the time settings for the program selected from the EPG. If the EPG updates a fraction of a second after the record start time then you get all the wrong details. If the program starts early you miss the start, if it over runs you miss the end.
Why oh why could recordings not start and stop using the transmitted start/stop flags in the transmission such that the older Sony HDD recorders of old do and also dedicated HDD recorders from other manufacturers do.
This is one of many problems with recording on Sony "smart" TV. My 11 year old Panasonic hard disc recorder manages to record the correct programs with the correct title, even when they start late and that machine predates the so-called "smart" TV's, which are not so smart at all and I'm afraid to say that the Sony Andriod Bravia is probably one of the less "smarter" ones. I've only had my TV for three weeks and have started making a list of errors/niggles found. I have pasted my list of recording niggles below. The list is in brief note form but I'm sure most will understand.
Can't pause live TV
Cant record two-part film due to recording time extension which is in fact disabled
“recording cannot start” displayed, second attempt “preparing to record” but nothing happens
Bugs in recording doesn’t warn of conflict in timer fails to work after conflict until all timer recordings are erased and re entered.
Recording issue - can select recorder scroll through recordings press play “launching” message blank screen no sound but can pause and fast forward etc!
Recording issue watching Freesat, press record “recording about to start” displayed long pause try to display EPG “timer recording about to start” displayed and the blank screen “no signal check aerial”. Go to “recording device” press stop recording but can’t stop. Back to TV still blank screen switch to “digital” (freeview) which acts as normal. Recording is running and can be played back okay. Try to switch back to Freesat “can’t change channel while recording” displayed despite trying to change back to channel that is actually recording! Stop recording now works and can change back to Freesat.
No display of recording duration on right of screen !!
When timer record is set, there is no indication on the EPG of the actual program that is scheduled to record only the red bar at the top off the EPG.
When recording there is no indication of inability to change channel when the “previous channel” button is used.
Recordings made by simply pressing record (i.e not using timer record) all appear on “error” list even though they recorded okay.
Recordings on “recorder timer list” will often display “searching for next episode” but give no other indication of what that actually is other than the channel its searching on.

Hi Max,
What is the model number of your TV? Also, do you have YouView enabled on your TV?
Pentium_Gladio
TV is a KD55A8BU
Youview is on my TV and enabled although I would rather not have it.
It keeps popping up when it's not wanted. I have no use for it.
Hi Roger,
Probably that's why. You cannot use the recording feature and YouView at the same time due to YouView's terms of service. You can find more information here.

This doesn't get round the problem that frequently the programme descriptions don't match the title of the recorded shows.
This suggest the way Sony designed this process is flawed. They need to visit this process again and try to find a solution that works for their customers.
Hopefully they will.
