I have still not received the new firmware update on my KD-49XE8005. Any ideas?

Update it Using a USB storage device if you don't want to wait for the automatic download. I suggest you do a factory reset before upgrading the firmware.

I know what you're saying mate but am confused as to why I haven't received the update?

Updates always rollout gradually across supported devices. It has to do with reliability/availability/maintainability/safety to do it in this fashion. It might even taken up to 30-60 days before all devices get pushed.
