eARC issues Sony 65A8

Hi Everyone,

I'm having an issue with the eARC connection.

My configuration is eARC from TV (Sony A8) to ---> eARC Yamaha A3080 receiver.
Both eARC are "on".

When opening any internal streaming app on TV (such as Netflix, AppleTV, Youtube) I find that starting any film/video there is a very short audio delay or lag. Video comes up but audio a few milliseconds after or so.

Then I turn eARC mode "off" in the TV and all works smoothly perfect. There is something weird here.

I use a new brand Belkin 4K UHD cable and tried restarting and changing all settings but no success.
Both firmware are the latest already installed.

Does anyone know if Sony is working on a fix for these issues?

Some other users also reported the same issue, are you on the latest software?

Thanks mate for your quick response.

Yes, it is updated to the latest firmware and my Yamaha receiver as well.

eARC works, but it comes with a lag or so. Then audio just directly syncs with the video running.

Don’t know if you get what I mean.

If I turn eARC off, all works perfectly synced from the beginning playing any film/video.

Just tried a factory reset but didn’t help.

A new software update was released on the 24th of last month, give it a shot and let us know if it solves your issue.

New software didn't help me with a similar problem, sorry to say. Still no HDMI ARC to my Sonos Beam

Thanks!

I did upgrade immediately but unfortunately same audio lag when eARC is “auto”.
Issue happens when opening any internal android app (Netflix, AppleTV, YouTube, Disney+).

Issue simply disappears just turning eARC “off”.

Very weird issue but looks like eARC port may be failing?

Try a factory reset and see if that will help.

Disconnect any external devices connected to the back of the TV.
DONE, issue persists.

Unplug the main power cord of the TV, and plug it back after 2 minutes.
DONE, issue persists.

Make sure that the TV is running the latest software version.
DONE, issue persists.

Clear Cached Data & Reboot the television:
Home - Settings - Storage & Reset - Internal Storage - Cached Data - Select Yes to clear it.
DONE, issue persists.

Perform factory reset: Home - settings - storage and reset- factory reset
DONE, issue persists.

Hi,

Does the issue still occur if you disable the eARC? Have you tried a different HDMI cable as well?

Yes the issue only happens only when eARC is set to AUTO. Once it’s OFF simply disappears and all works fine.

Yes, was the first thing I’ve tried.

I bought a new brand Belkin UHD 4K speed and same issue.

it’s very weird this issue as I have a friend who has the same receiver but connected to a LG CX and have no issues at all.
