I have recently purchased as Sony 65XH90(UK) and non of the UHD content will play via iPlayer including the rest loop, all other content is fine. This is 2nd panel I’ve had with the same problem , my LG tv plays iPlayer UHD content fine so it’s definitely the Sony TV

I also have this issue on a KD-43XH8505 with HTG700 Soundbar. All works fine with apps including iPlayer until I try to play UHD content when the app hangs. I am on latest firmware and latest Android software versions as listed by others in this thread. It is a known issue and recognised as a highlighted FAQ on BBC iPlayer support site which states Sony are working on an update. If there is an administrator/Sony representative on here it would be great to get a progress update on the fix and an idea of when a software release might be available to resolve the issue.

Hi, I've heard that there will be an update soon too, I saw another poster mentioning that the only work around for now is to watch the specific program on another device.

Yes hopefully it will be soon 😁!

I still use the iPlayer on the TV but not UHD versions of programs. That works fine. It also works fine on UHD if you ensure you’ve switched to TV speakers first. But that’s not a fix, just a temporary workaround 😁!

KD55-XG8796 I have the same problem with the circle in the middle of the screen on iPlayer UHD content. If I switch from my soundbar to tv speakers it works fine, switch back to soundbar it stops again. This obviously isn’t ideal but is a workaround, hopefully it’s helpful for someone.

Well, the firmware update has just installed to my KD-43XH8505... And BBC iPlayer works on UHD with sound through my AVR.... All OK.

So problem solved.... Just need to now investigate what problems the new firmware might have caused.... 🙄

I’ve just installed the latest v6.5016 update today from the tv menu, did a restart (using the standard ‘hold down the standby button on the remote’ method) and UHD on iPlayer works fine :-)! Which is great news.

I also notice the ‘press green to watch from the beginning’ when viewing live TV in the Sony Youview app also works fully too! Great news again 🙂

Updated to firmware PKG6.7140.0358EUA on my AF8 last night and iPlayer has now disappeared completely. It’s not on the play store so I cannot download it.

Is anyone else having this issue?
