Why is the supplied strap on a really expensive camera so poor?

Edited for profanity:  Pretty sure you meant "poor" rather than other word you typed. Easy mistake to make but please don’t do it again.  It might help the community to respond if you provided a little more detail like model number etc

This the same 'Lee' that got the 580 for me?

Sorry about any so-called profanity but the supplied strap with an Alpha 580 (or the 500 for that matter) is extremely uncofortable; rough on the neck; slips on the shoulder; and generally you'd think such a big company would do more to encourage people to buy their products by giving a decent strap for comfort & use.

Any better?

Before Sony, I worked in Photographic retail and even back then (10 years or more) the supplied accessories for all but the most unique products were nothing like the after market options.  I for one would always look to invest in a really nice strap and bag which would then usually carry over two or three generation of cameras.

That said, it is still very worth feedback and I will be sure to pass it onto the Alpha team.

I think it rather short-sighted for something worth so much to have something urging buyers (though I never actually bought my 580 of course.. thanks to you) to get even more stuff - and something that's unliely to have the Sony logo on it.

Tried a few straps without success as the grip & two batteries make the camera realy quite heavy for the neck.  I think the orange Sony strap might 'do the job' but haven't managed to find a supplier - at a price I'm prepared to pay.  [Scottish, you might recall?]

The Walkman/MP3 that I bought comes with earphones that retail seperately for more than some MP3 players themselves.  One rule, etc?

Oh, I meant to say (with my love of puns): How about adopting a strap for the Nex range of cameras to fit/suit a DS/TLR - have them marketed as Nex Straps..?
