I've updated my xperia Z1 compact to lollipop using OTA service. The phone was new and nothing was installed on it. after the update the screen lock disappeared and I coudn't unlock the phone (the exact same problem the has been dealt with here: /t5/Xperia-Z1-Compact/Android-amp-All-apps-crash-after-updating-the-OS/m-p/991583/highlight/true#M15...

when I tried to repair my phone using PC Companion i kept getting the "Sony mobile update engine failure error number 302". I used 4 different computers, disabled the firewall and the anti virus, ran it in compatibilty mode and made sure java was installed. all the computers passed the system requirements and had broadband internet connection, still the same error every time.

what to do now?

Managed to solve it in the end by flashing a new firmware using Flashtool and Xperifirm.

Hope that may help other people who face a similar issue.

it could be a temporary server issue.

I don't think so.

I tried it a few times with a 7 days gap between.

Edit:

I tried to decipher from the PCC logs what is this error number and it looks like this error stands for 'phone not recognized'. Maybe It's some kind of a driver problem, but either way I still don't know how to solve it.

I'm attaching the logs so maybe someone with better undesrstanding would know what to do.

based on what you said, the problem is neither your computer nor your phone but the servers, Are you using the same internet connection on all computers?
