Xperia C6603 Won't let me swipe off the lock screen

Sony Ericsson C6603 won't "swipe"?

Hi. My phone is stuck on the lock screen. The battery went dead yesterday, and I have left it to charge through the night. I came to use it this morning and nothing. It won't swipe open, just stays on the "swipe to unlock page". I am receiving texts and phone calls but unable to respond. TWhen plugged in to charge its fine.
I've tried the power/ volume button, waited for the 3 vibrations and nothing. Just returns with the swipe to unlock screen. The phone has never let me down until now. Slightly_frowning_Face

Has anyone experienced this and sorted it? Many thanks

Performing a software repair using PC Companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

I bought a Sony xperia z online. Wasn't working when I received it.

It was stuck on swipe to unlock, got told it would cost £89 for new screen..

Had it for less than two weeks. Tried it with a mhl lead today, maybe it was the

connection which made it hotter, but now seems to be working fine.

Maybe don't give up hope...
