Unusual Lollipop Issues

Hi all.

Anyone having these issues with their Z1C after the Lollipop update?

  1. Screen is super sensitive, things happen without actually touching the screen.
  2. Battery drains quicker.
  3. While making a call, "Conditional Call Forwarding is enabled" appears on the screen.

I ended up with these issues (except number 3) "after" doing a clean install. The phone has no screen protector but is in a Tetded case.

Cheers.

I see, because you say the issues have occurred after installing Lollipop - you could try re-installing Lollipop with PC Companion to see if that smoothens out the operating system for you, it is very likely to.

To do this you just need access to a computer with an internet connection. Download PC Companion here.

Note: a software repair will delete all user data, to back up your phone:

1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
(Exactly what contents will be backed up may differ depending on phone model.
You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard).

Running the software repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps

Hopefully this helps! Keep us updated.

Hi pony65k,

Have you booted the phone in safe mode to see whether you experience issue number 1 there? In regards to the battery draining quicker, if you go into Power management > Battery usage > what apps are using up the most battery? Could you please report back on these so we can further assist.

The conditional call forwarding message merely confirms that your call is connected and that any other incoming calls will be forwarded to your voicemail as you are unreachable. To change your call forwarding/voicemail settings, go into the handsets Settings > Call settings > Call forwarding > change the settings there.

Hi SophiaW

Thanks for your reply.

I've done the safe mode boot mode and the screen was still very touchy and doing things on its own.

In terms of battery usage:

Cell Standby 25%

Screen 20% (I have brightness set to around 30%)

Phone Idle 18%

Voice calls 13%

Android System 8%

Android OS 3%

Bluetooth 3%

NFC Service 2%

Phone 2%

Lookout 1%

In regards to call forwarding, I have always forward set to disabled. The other 3 options listed are set to a number which I don't recognise, maybe it's a Telstra thing? I can't disable these numbers.

None of these issues were present prior to the update to Lollipop. I haven't added any new apps, although I guess some may not play nice with Lollipop, but the battery defintely drains quicker and the conditional call forwarding never showed on the screen before.

Cheers,

Pony

The touch screen issue occured "after" I did a full re-installation (not an update from kitkat) via  PC Companion. I didn't initially have this issue when it was a simple update. I did a full re-intallation to try fix the other issues and then ended up with a new issue and the other issues weren't fixed.

I see, you could always try running the repair again to see if it helps. Do you have Stamina mode on or Low battery mode?

Stamina mode is on, low battery mode is off. Thanks, looks like I'll have to try it again.

Alrighty. I did a "repair" through PC Comanion. So far so good. A bit too soon to tell about the battery, but I think that's purely Lollipop using the battery differently to Kitkat.

Still have the "Conditional Forwarding" thing which is a pain in the butt, but I guess I'll have to live with it.

On a side note. I had to do the repair twice. The first time the phone wouldn't connect to my wireless internet. After the second time it worked perfectly. Never had an issue with the wireless before.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Hi pony65k, am glad to hear that. How has the battery life been doing since you ran the repair on PC Companion?
