The whole thing froze, completely unresponsive

I was listening to the FM radio for the first time on my experia zl and the whole thing froze. It will not respond to anything,

I can hold the start button for 5 minutes with no response.

Is anyone else having similar problems?

Did that, just did it again... nothing.

Held the Power button and volume UP... 30/40 seconds...nothing

Held the Power button and volume DOWN... 30/40 seconds...nothing

It seems I will have to wait until it runs out of power and then restart it. The screen is stuck on fm radio, 91% power, 1:14pm eastern standard.

I've had since April15, if it's still like this by the time I head home, it will be going back to Costco.

Thank you for trying.

try this

remove the SIM card and put it back on, it should restart your phone

so even after pressing power & volume up at the same time for 10+ seconds, or removing the SIM card the phone is still stuck (on) ? that's quite interesting, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. this is quite odd

once you get the phone to restart use SUS to repair your phone or return it/exchange it

Update Service (SUS)

Did that more than once for more than 20 seconds, didn't do anything.

It's now been on the same screen for 2 hours 45 minutes, nothing works.

following this with interest - SusyD you have an anomaly in your hands - some people have an issue with turning on but never turning off

have you definately connected to your PC via USB and tried to do an update repair ? download Pc Companion from Sony (do a search)

do you have a memory card inserted ? if so remove it

plug in headphones and see what happens

this is pretty weird

is the phone doing anything at all - does the battery indicator show a drain - is it going down

is the clock changing time
