text conversations have disappeared and unable to read new texts on z2

My text messages, both new  and  old are unaccessible. New messages are shown as received and the first list displayed in  the index but I cannot read any of them. They just show empty when opened. Any suggestions please?

Settings-apps-all-messages,force stop and clear data. Restart.
