How do I resend a sms that has failed to send?

I have 4 sms messages that failed to send last night due to no reception. How do I resend these as I can't seem to find a re send button or other facility. I'm using a Xperia Z.

long press the message that didn't send and it should give you an option to send - never happened to me so sort of a guess
