Attempted factory reset failed - PC Companion

Hi guys,

I wanted to perform a factory reset of my Z1C after the recent 5.1 update had thrown up all kinds of problems - plus it had never been done since JellyBean.

Anyway, I got any error after the software download and I was asked to connect my phone. Now my handset doesn't start at all - I just get a black screen telling me that the update had failed and that I need to connect my phone back to the PC. When I do that PC Companion can't connect to my phone...

Help!

On charge, the phone is just been powering up by itself, I briefly get the Sony Xperia screen and then the failed update screen and then the phone dies, waits a few seconds and the process starts again... it's been doing this for about 30 mins.

It seems to be in an endless loop! The battery was at about 70% before this happened so it can't be that low can it?
