Xperia XZ messaging crashes with MMS

For the past 2 months any time I receive an MMS photo the messanging app will crash. I can however send MMS photos with no problem.

I have tried clearing messaging cache, restarting messaging, reseting messaging

I have verified and reverified the MMS settings

I have done a factory reset on the phone

I have reformatted my SD card

I have done a factory reset of the phone while keeping the SD card out

I have reset the phone several times and have not used any stored memory of any kind including from apps and the memory card (which has been reformated) none of these things fix the problem. I have lost all my old messages and some other data in this process.

Please help this phone is new only purchased in November 2016. As far as I recall this was working fine before the end of January.

It still crashes for me, as long as I receive or send an mms it refuses to work and it's frustrating! Please tell me you are working on the problem. I'm using 3 party apps so far but it's still annoying.
