Touch screen problem

Screenshot_20170722-193919.png

Last night my phone suddenly have this "ghost touch sensitive" and frantically press the screen, make it diffucult to use. But i managed to backup and use safe mode this afternoon but the screen still goes crazy so i shut it down and left it for rest of the evening, now the phone stop going crazy but there a dead spot on the screen as you can see from the picture.

My question is, this is obviously a hardware problem right? And more importantly, if i send the phone under warranty (valid till Nov), when they replaced the digitizer/screen, will the ip68(?) Rating be compromise?

Because the sony repair centre branch in my place (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia) most likely don't have the vacuum/leak machine thing. The main repair centre that have the equipment is in Kuala Lumpur, the last time i sent my phone for a leak test (Z1 compact), I waited a month tops for the results.

For now I'll keep the phone in a bag full of silica gel just in case...

EDITED @ 8:50pm (GMT+8): I just rebooted it in safe mode and do a free drawing test (*#*#7378423#*#*) and the screen seems to be fine. no dead spot. I will do a factory reset after I reboot it to normal mode and done the free drawing test. If the result yields deadspot in normal mode, I'll factory reset it. Will update soon...

Hi @nano_said, I am sorry about your issue.

It does indeed appear to be a hardware problem but yes please try the software repair using Xperia Companion as it could still be software related, most likely a third party app drawing over the screen.

If it is repaired by an authorised repair centre, the IP rating is usually reinstated, but you should ask your Local support team to make sure.

Good luck.

The touchscreen problem seems to fix itself after storing the phone in a container full of silica gel and stored it in a warm place, maybe there's moisture present inside the phone.
