Google Play, and apps on SD card not opening

I just performed a system update, and after the phone restarted, suddenly all of my apps stored on my SD card, such as Instagram, Messenger, Snapchat, and about a dozen others, no longer open, citing: "Cannot open (app name). App is stored on the SD card".

However, if I I delete the app, I can't reinstall it, because Google Play is not working correctly. When I open it, a system box says Google Play Store is not working. EVEN THOUGH the app actually loads, behind the system box. This continues to happen as much as you try to re-open it.

I know the card is not corrupt because I can still access my music and photos stored on it.

I have restarted several times.

I have emptied the caches for the Google Play related apps.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi @Conor91, welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this issue.

Are you able to move the apps back to the internal storage under Settings > Apps > [App name] > Storage > Change?

When you cleared the caches for the Google apps, did you clear the data too? If not, please do so. Make sure you reset the Google Play Services too.

If you are still having problems, you may wish to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.
