Wifi problem under 4.0.4 (bug under ICS)

Dear support,

I have a problem with Wifi after update to 4.0.4: cannot connect to my router. I read on any topics this problem with ICS.

(see like this topics: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/49541?start=200&tstart=0)

Under 2.3.4 version no have any problem, without any password can connect my phone, but with password authentication cannot. I read any forum this bug fixed in 4.1.2 android (like other models too, see this: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=36993)

Just a question: when will fix this under 2011 models (like my phone Xperia Pro)? Because I cannot use my phone with Wifi now, but I need Android 4.x. I need this new version, but need newer android or any fix for this.

Thanks, and wait update for my phone model.

I have this problem too. What I tried:

- install upgrade with save data

- install with all erase data

- install with repair

but not helped. Slightly_frowning_Face

I have D-Link DI-524UP with latest firmware on channel 13 (tried with channel 8 too, not helped), but what's guarantee my phone will work on any place?

I don't go back to 2.3.4 version, please fix this wifi bug! I hope will release 4.1.2 version to 2011 series too!

Yes, I tried all of this. Here is list what I tried:

- updated to 4.0.4 version (587 build). Wifi look my router, try connection, wait a few seconds Obtaining IP status, a moment Connected, but try connect again. Like get an IP, but no saved, or anything, but get a loop when try connect.

- under 2.3.4 version no problem with connect: wifi stable and connect at first

- if ANY settings changed (channel, encryption, enable or disable) in my router  with wifi settings (DI-524 UP with G standard maximum), the phone with 4.0.4 can connect. But when phone restart, I get loop again, cannot connect.

- if deleted WPA2-PSK password, then phone can connect. I thing this authentication problem under 4.0.4 version.

- tried phone repair functions too, not helped.

After this no solution, then I rooted my phone (but no opened bootloader!), and tried these variations with Flashtool:

- install many build from 2.3.4 versions: 42, 58, 62 and 69 too. Wifi can connect anytime

- install many build from 4.0.4 versions: 431, 587, and newer B.1.13 - wifi status is same: I get loop.

- install a custom ROM: Ultimate HD 3.0.2 for Sony kernel, but looping is there.

I thing this bug in 4.0.4 kernel or wifi module under Xperia Pro, but I look this problem in many forums with other phones (like Samsung Galaxy too). This bug in ICS original?

I have a few problem:

- I cannot upgrade my phone to 4.0.4 build. I will not open bootloader for kernel replace.

- PC Companion and SEUS haven't any options for version repair: I get 4.0.4 version only, downgrade impossible with these applications. I'd like an options: "what I want: 2.3.4 or 4.0.4?" When downgrade from 4.0.4 all personal data will lost, this ok. When upgrade, then I select upgrade or full factory reset.

- I read from this bug on many forums, and read: this fixed in 4.1.2 Android. I read a manually hack to Samsung, but I don't use this. An hack is here under #84:

https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=36993

Summary: with 2.3.4 version no problem, with any 4.0.4 build I get wifi loop, no authenticated. This is a build or Android bug. 😞 I found this solution: back to 2.3.4. But if 4.0.4 version is buggy, why not updated?

If I go to any place (train, shops, public parks etc.), there will no change any router or no update routers to me. 🙂

Well, if nothing of the tips in the thread works, you should send in the phone to a service center for repair, as there isn't much you can do by yourself. Contact your local Xperia Support for more information:

I tried with channel 8 too, but not helped. Slightly_frowning_Face But 2.3.4 version can connect to any channel.

Thanks for link, but I talked with local support, and said: this is software problem. Service can downgrade to 2.3.4 version not any help to this phone for 4.0.4 version. This is an engineering bug, what don't update or fix Sony anymore to this phone, because no write newer firmware. Slightly_frowning_Face

Sadly they will never fix it, i have told this many times before, xperia developers must be fired, and the support guys always say the same thing: " reset the phone".  So if you wanna be able to connect i suggest you to change your wireless security to wpa and try again  Greets.  P.S. Sony software is really bad.

Sorry, but I don't change my router settings, if 2.3.4 is working, but 4.0.4 not. If I will go to anywhere, there will not change in router any settings to me for my blue eyes. This joke. I need a fix for wifi (like ported from 2.3.4 or 4.1.2) to this version
