I bought my XPERIA XA1 (G3112) nine months ago. Two months ago it started turning off by itself. I noticed This usually happens when the upper part of the phone is slightly pressed, eg when it's in my pocket or in a bag. It may happen ten times a day, so the phone is totally useless. It doesn't give any message before turning off. When I turn it back on, the date and time of the phone most of the times gets reset to some arbitrary date and time in the past.
I did factory reset and I tried with no SIM and SD cards. But the phone shuts down by itself anyway. This may happen even during boot time, while still no app or operating system is loade.
I sent the phone to the insurance and two weeks later they sent me a replacement which unfortunately had exactly the same issues from the beginning. I sent back that phone as well and after checking it, another two weeks later they send me a second replacement. Unfortunately that was also defect and had exactly the same issues.
I start being convinced that there is a construction issue for the whole model or series, but I'm totally helpless in that sense.
This situation has caused me a major disturbance as I'm left without a smartphone for more than a month. Due to the subsequent factory resets I lost a lot of settings and app configurations that for some reasons they were not covered by the backup system. I was also delayed numerous times that I needed something from the phone and I had to wait for it to turn on
Yes. I just restarted in safe mode, I pressed slightly the upper part of the phone from both sides and the phone turned off.
Any other ideas? By reading the forum I see there are many people having the same problem. The only one who solved it, opened the device themselves, found sth that caused a short circuit and fixed it. Since I have already tested three devices of the same model I think this a generic construction problem. I'll try to contact Sony to see if the problem really exists and whether I can send the phone back.
