Sailfish OS for XA2

Is there an official version of Sailfish OS that could be run on the Sony Xperia XA2 currently ?

Hi @G111111,

As far as I know the Xperia X is the only device that supports Sailfish OS, but you may want to have a look at the website for the Sailfish OS if there are other Xperia devices that can run this software.

Do note that all support for Sailfish OS is provided by Jolla who are the developers of this OS.

I hope that helps! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi again @G111111!

Very interesting find, I didn't know they would support the Xperia XA2 with the release of Sailfish 3! Slightly_smiling_Face

Based on the information in the press release I guess you will have to wait a bit longer as it states that Sailfish 3 will be released later this year (Q3)!

Thanks again for this information and I hope you have a great weekend! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi,

I´m in the same boat, (Jolla), if you´ll pardon the pun, waiting for the release of SFOS3, but I´m also waiting for the XA2 to be officially released in NZ to install it on.  Do you have any idea of a release date for the XA2 in NZ.

Thanks,

MC

So, in the mean time, Sailfish OS 3.1 is out....it supports XA2 Ultra....

However, be aware, in order to install SailFish on your sony...you HAVE to unlock bootloader...(and from that moment on, you have no official warranty any more on your device, meaning tools Like Emma or Companion will not work anymore)

Hi @Haldun!

Thank you for the information about Sailfish OS 3.1! Slightly_smiling_Face

Yeah, as always when flashing/installing a custom ROM, you will need to unlock the bootloader which means you can't go back the stock firmware using Emma or Xperia Companion (not sure if flashtool works though) and since unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty, there will be no more warranty on the device.

Thanks again!

I think that is really weird. Sony promoted the possibility of Sailfish on the XZ and XA2, but doesn't support you anymore with updates because you unlocked the bootloader. If you won't support people going back if they think that SailfishOS may not be for them, stop promoting the open devices program.
