Hi all,
Sony is promoting its XA2 with a program that makes it possible to install SailfishOS X on it. Which is great ofcourse. I've tried it and imho it wasn't ready to be used daily yet (for me at least).
So I went back to the original Xperia Android.
But... Now I'm not receiving updates anymore (my IMEI check says there's an update). I'm pretty sure that this is because I've unlocked the bootloader. This was a requirement to be able to install SailfishOs on it. But there is now way to relock it.
I think this is weird because Sony promotes the possibility to install Sailfish. You'd think that it would also support going back to Android and receive updates again.
Am I wrong in that the unlocked bootloader is the problem with receiving updates? And is it really not possible to relock the bootloader and/or receive updates?
Current build: 50.1.A.13.83
IMEI check for updates gives build: Release: 50.1.A.13.123
Update on phone says there are no updates.
thanx
Marcel
To be honest - the latest update for most XA2 is 50.2.A.0.379.
You can try to update using Xperifirm and flash the software on? you can either update the latest for your region or update to the very latest - however if you have any 4g calling/wifi calling from your network operator you will probably lose this if you install firmware from another region.
Hi,
Thank you for your response. I just think that it is incorrect from Sony to promote something but not fully support returning to their own Android version by not delivering updates anymore.
Does your solution mean I have to completely reinstall my phone everytime there is an update available?
