Warranty and guarantee

I bought a sony lap top in April 2010.

The battery is already on 'Fair' and it gets warm rather quickly on the bottom of the back left hand side of the computer.  I have the receipt but no information on how long it maybe guaranteed for or under warranty for.

Can anyone help?

I assume you are in the UK?

Unless you purchased an extended warranty, your Vaio is probably outside the 12 month Warranty.

Just to be sure, can you give us your Vaio model?

Chances of Sony helping out are probably zero.

I bought a new Vaio and after twelve and a half months the bios got corrupted during a Sony recommended update but they couldn't care less. I paid for the repair privately but this will be the last Sony product I buy.
