VGN-S1XP: A lot of problems

3 weeks ago I ordered this really nice and light weight notebook from a German dealer. After working now more than 3 weeks I found a lot of problems which should be not normal for a 2200 Euro-Notebook:
- loud fan after working 15 minutes i battery mode (even when low-nosie is set in power management!!).
- permanent and loud working fan when the notebook is plugged in 220V power supply (really bothering).
- sometimes really strange noice from the hard disk (scratching noice).
- Not able to burn DVD´s (newest firmware from Vaio, several brands tested, two software tested). I have made a complain about that at Vaio.

In this price range I have expected a high end notebook and not a nice small machine with a lot of bugs.

Has somebody made same experiences?

Please write to gz-internet@web.de or post here.

Greets and ciao

Gerry

Wow thats terrible!
I find a lot of PCs nowadays are noisy though, I don't think we'll ever have a completely silent PC

Even the RA104 hums....

Try a IBM R50. Bigger and heavy but nearly noisless (M1.5)!

I tend to know when I'm pushing my limits on multi tasking , by the sights and sounds of my PW1 but its not often .

"Stunning To think I have more computer power than the BBC started With all those years back . And here sat in my home , never mind me being left alone with it , lol" RGP

GerryZ take it back "German dealer" I think should help here as you say you paid Its Price . use his services ..

This is not normal - I work with a VGN-S1VP and all works fine:
- no loud fan
- good battery time
- no problems writing CD's or DVD's

Take it back to the dealer !
