Vaio VGN-S5M_S Memory Upgrade

I've just bought this Vaio from PC World. I want to maximise my graphics capability. PC World say to upgrade the memory. They believed that the current 512Mb DDR2 would be in one slot leaving the other one free. Club Vaio specs say that there are two 256Mb chips installed one in each slot. I believe also that I read in the documentation that it is better to have equal amounts in both slots to allow dual channelling (or something). So I'm a bit confused now. Question 1 - What do I have installed and where. (System info says 512mb)? Question 2 - Do you advise biting the bullet and upgrading to max 2Gb? Question 3 - Will I effectively be throwing away the current 2x256Mb? Question 4 - When I buy the new 2GB what am I asking for 1x2GB unit to occupy 2 slots or 2x1Gb? Question 5 - Any advice on best manufacturer to buy and where to buy from?

Thanks in advance.

Go to Crucial.com they are knowledgable and friendly.

I suggest 1GB for now, you really won't need the 2GB.

Keep those 2x256MB if heaven forbit, something went wrong
