VAIO VGN AR51M WinDVD update advise

I use VAIO update to update my VAIO software. But now the latest update for WinDVD BD 8.8.0.154 fails saying no previous version is installed which is not true. I have WinDVD BD 8.0.20.185 installed.

I need this update since 8.0.20.185 creates an error "WinDVD MFC application stopped working".  What do I need to do ?

I run latest Windows Vista Ultimate SP 2.

Did this problem start after upgrading to Vista Ultimate from Home Premium?

Hi Rich,

  No It did not.  I run Vista Ultima nearly since the beginning (about 2 years ago). I don't watch bluray discs very often, but a couple of mont ago WinDVD was working. My Internet search showed that many people have this problem with WinDVD creating the error message with no solution.

I also noticed the update is Corel WinDVD and I had InterVideo WinDVD. It looks like Corel bought Intervideo and maybe now expects the installation to be in another directory or checks for different registry settings ?
