Temp 99 celsius and no sound from my fan

Vaio vgn-a a397xp , I cant hear no sound from my fan, never been like this and the mobilmeter shows 99 c and the frequency has dropped down to 500 mhz and it laggs. WHat can I do? Is this a serious problem, no sound from the fan right now...

The fan not spinning could be due to a build up of dust, etc.

As your vaio is getting hot first try clearing the cooling vents of dust with compressed air (you should be able to get this from your local PC shop), holding the can upright give the vents a short blast from a distance of approx. 10cm if you hold the can to close you could damage the fan..

If you do not notice any improvement then your vaio may need to be disassembled in order to deep clean the fan and cooling vents or either take to a local repairer and have them check the fan or contact Vaio-Link ..
