Screen goes different colours

Hi all.

I have a VGN A215Z Laptop. I am sick and tired of not being able to use it due to the screen keeps going different colours on bootup. I cannot see any of the text when I go to Word 2003 to do some paper work.
Can anyone please help me. I have downloaded the new drivers for ATI but that has not resolved it.

Do you get the same problems if you attach your Vaio to an external monitor...?
