PLEASE HELP!! - PROBLEMS PLAYING DVD'S ON VAIO

HI,
I'M HAVING PROBLEMS PLAYING DVD'S ON MY VAIO S1XP WHICH HAS A MATSHITA UJ-812 DVD R/RW DRIVE.
IT PLAYS CD's AND GAMES NO PROBLEM BUT WHEN A DVD IS PLAYED THE DRIVE SEEMS NOT TO RECOGNISE IT.

CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE!!!!

It sounds like the drive is somewhat defective, as the DVD laser is not working.

Firstly try cleaning the lens with a commercial DVD lens cleaner, the dry type are best.
