Over-Chaging with VAIO Pocket possible?

Hi guys!

My brother has a Sony VAIO Pocket and the following problem:

He put the VP in the Cradle to load the batterie. A yellow lightning indicates that the device does receive energy. After he stood up next day (12 hours), he saw that there was the lightning but this time with a small red cross in the lower right of the lightning symbol.

What does this mean?

I thought there is a plug symbol when the device is fully charged.

Is there a possibility of over-charging ur unit?
