The News headlines are a feature of VAIO Gate. This is the bar at the top of the screen with various program icons, that often hides itself away at the top of the screen until you hover the mouse pointer over it.

The Headlines are RSS feeds from websites that have been registered in your internet browser.

To deactivate this - hover over the tab that the news feed appears on until the whole VAIO Gate pops up and then go to the far right where there should be a very small 'Briefcase' icon. This is the options menu.

In there you should have options to increase or decrease the frequency of RSS news feeds appearing. The minimum setting being 'OFF'.

That should remove it for you.

I hope this helps
