Dear all,
I want to increase memory capacity of my RC204.
I found on the sony web site some information saying that DIMM 533Mhz (DDR2) memory are required. Maximim 2Go are possible ....
In addition, it is written that already 2 slots are taken by 2 memory 512Mo each.
i read somewhere that it is possible to manage max 3Go. Do somebedy know more about this?
If 3 Go are managable, it is possible to have :
slot 1 : 512
slot 2 : 512
slot 3 : 1Go
slot 4 : 1Go?
else, 2Go are compliant whit my RC204 architecture, then I'll buy 2 more memories in order to have :
slot 1 : 512
slot 2 : 512
slot 3 : 512
slot 4 : 512
what do you think about it?
It is required to buy dual channel set? or 2 single memories are ok?
To finalize my questions, what do you recommand in term of brand for memories?
KINGMAX?
CORSAIR?
KINGSTON?
OCZ?
SAMSUNG?

If sony say there board will only support 2GB of RAM then they are very likely to be right.
Here is the RAM that you should buy.
As for the configuration it is always best to keep the RAM sticks the same size otherwise it gets fairly messy in my experience. For this reason i suggest either buying another 2 512MB sticks (If you are sure there are 4slots) or (and this is what i would really do) buy two 1GB sticks.
Here are the instructions for the installation.
4x512MB is the best route for higher latency.
I meant lower LOL, shows how much attention I pay
