Hi.
I have just purchased a Vaio notebook (FE-21H) but I have just noticed that it does not have a line-in input like most other laptops/PCs.
I am wanting to import music from my mini-disc player so that i can edit it.
Is there any connector or lead i can purchase in order to do this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
I would use a Dazzle DVC90 usb 2.0 connector because it does audio and video and comes with Avids Pinnacle studio 9 which is simply brilliant for 45 quid from PCWorld. Otherwise look into USB TV tuners that have audio connectors or if you just want a USB audio connector for for that.
Just noticed - even the FE Docking Station doesn't have any analogue in connections!
Don't buy ANYTHING...your mic imput is your line-in input.....With mine FE11S its perfect. And yes it is stereo
My choice would be the griffin iMic:smileycool: here
All you need in a nice small package.

Yup you can use the mic socket, although you may find that it's a little lower in quality. You'll need to turn the microphone boost off, and make sure the volume on your MD player is very low.
As per carolino and parekhd 's posts,
Your mic socket does indeed doubles as a stereo line in and seems to be intended for this purpose, as you'll find your machine also has ASIO drivers for use when feeding it audio.
I use my FE11H for music recording using Cubase with no problem. Quality is actually very decent and compares with my M-AUDIO 2496 equipped desktop. As others have said, you just need to watch levels - keep the mic slider down low, and only feed the laptop a line level signal.
That's pretty cool
