How to switch off LCD and hard drive?

I've just bought SONY VAIO FE21SR and read in the User Guide that it's possible to switch off LCD and hard drive in order to save accumulator's power. But there are no any pointers how to do this. I'm novice at notebook using so I don't know where to find the solution. There are no functional buttons for this porpose.

Could you please advise me what to do to switch these devices off?

Thank you! I missed this feature.

But it is a power management schema which turn off LCD on the timer. I thought about some button or menu property which can be used to switch LCD off.

Is it possible to make this action (LCD off) by means of the function buttons S1 or S2?
