That doesn't sound good (no pun intended :smileywink:). Is it coming from the HDD or the fan do you think? Does a hardware diagnositc test (can be found the the VAIO Recovery Centre program) come back with positive results?

If it is still within the warranty period contact VAIOlink Support (0870 2402408) and explain the situation, they'll get it in to the repair centre if needs be.

I don't think it is the hard drive as when I mute the sound the clicking stops and the hard drive is very quite and so is the fan, it sounds like it is todo with the sound card and it even comes though the H D M I lead when I plug it in to the TV, I can also see a smal flickerin on the slide bar on the Specker icon at the bottom right of the screen, and when I turn the sound back on it starts clicking or ticking how ever you read the sounds that are coming from it.

mind you as you say it is very much under warranty period as I only had it December 2010 not even two mouths old yet, not a very good sine is it realy,

I have already had to reinstall the laptop back to it's factory state from the harddrive.

and at this rate I will soon lose confidance in it,
