hello there,

does anybody know how to deal with fan noise in SZ4? is it normal that it runs constantly? should it not kick in when it gets really warm?

the two extreme fan settings aren't making a lot of difference to this problem.

are there any special drivers/programmes/bios upgrades that could help?

Hey,

I have the same problem. Even on level 1 (quiet), it's still
very loud in myt opinion. I also had very quiet times with the laptop
when the fan was off, so it is possible to shut it down. Pls help
somebody.

The cause of your fan running constantly could due to overheating...!!

What is the normal running temperature of your vaio..?

What happens if you hit the S2 button, does it slow the fans down?

I have a VGN-SZ series and the fans runs constantly, but very low, so its really quite. It depends on if you are on stamina or performance mode. Because the integrated intel graphic chip set doesn't produce so much heat so the temp inside the case in general is lower --> the fan kicks in less. But with the nvidia chip set enabled the fan runs constantly at a higher level. Also bear in mind you could install notebook hardware control which can control your cpu frequency. Switch to dynamic switching and if you are just browsing the web, cpu won't run at full speed of example 2 ghz instead it will run at 1 ghz, which will lower the temperature too. Also try to push the s2 button it will automatically try to lower cpu speed and reduce the noise by slowing down the fans, as already mentioned
