Album Naming

Hi
I'm a little confused and could use some help. I've created several versions of an album in the various compression formats so that I can try them out and decide which one I'm happy with. They are all versions of the musical Chess and I've called the albums "Chess" (the original ATRAC3+ 256kb), "Chess (66kb)" for an ATRAC3 66kb version, "Chess (105kb)" and "Chess (132kb).

When I transfer them to my Vaio there are several distinct albums; Chess, Chess (105kb), Chess (132kb) and Chess (66kb) as there should be but when I try to play them there is only one album called "Chess" which has 4 track 1s, 4 track 2s, etc., with no identification of where each came from (so I can't easily make the comparison between compression bit rates).

I tried to change the Title of an album before in the Transfer window (I'd spelled the name wrong) but although the Title on the screen was correct, the album on the Vaio still had the old name. The only way to correct it was to delete it from the Vaio, make the changes then re-transfer it! This worked for the mis-spelling problem but won't work for this.

Does anyone know where the actual album name is stored and whether I can change it?

Hello again

I've done some playing around and discovered that the album name that the Pocket Vaio uses isn't the name you give it but the name in the Source Field of the Track in the Music Library.

This also explained why I couldn't create a single album from a multiple CD set (the Source was given as ... (Disk 1), ...(Disk2), etc. so thats how thw Vaio displayed them.

I've now renamed the Source field Chess (66kb), Chess (105kb), etc instead of them all being Chess & I now have seperate albums.

This seems a horrible way to do it since to rename an album seems to require that you destroy the Source information!

This would seem to mke the Title field on the Pocket Vaio window meaningless.

Does anyone know if there are plans to make this Title meaningful in future firmware updates?

Regards
