Hi,
I did an install of win XP onto my Vaio PCG-7G1M. Because the cd/dvd rom isn't working any more i performed the install using by switching the hard drive with that one of an old laptop with working cd-rom so i could do the install.
Win xp is installed correctly because i can boot it from my old laptop. But when i try to boot from the vaio i get an extremely short blue screen of death (BSoD). After that the computer restarts.
The ram is working correctly and i do not see how the hard drive can be malfunctioning since it boots correctly from the old laptop. I also have no drivers installed so it is a clean install of Win XP.
Does the Vaio PCG-7G1M have to have drivers installed during Win XP setup???
Does anyone have an other idea why i'm getting the blue screen and restart???
Thanks in advance for your help...
Niki
P.S. the blue screen disappears so fast that it doesn't even complete the text, so i do not know what blue screen error i'm getting
P.S. II i do not have the original vaio install cd's so if you know where to download or buy them that might also help
P.S. III i can't seem to find the drivers for the laptop on the vaio site, any idea's there???
would really love some feedback 🙂
maybe i'll try win7 and see what happens...
Worth a shot i guess.
With Windows XP it works.
I did it last year and when I reinstall windows XP I also have a blue screen when the bios was updated.
Do you still have problem with your VIAO ? How did you solve your problem ?
Thanks for your response.
