Sound connectivity issues

I have a Bravia 32WD756BU which i have connected to a Q Acoustics M2 soundbar with an optical cable

However I get "TV Volume is Fixed" when I try to change volume using the Sky Remote

Is there a fix for this? The only way to get it working is to have the TV speakers on at the same time which seems a bit daft

I would rather not use a HDMI connection as the TV only has 2 inputs which I would prefer to use for the Sky box and DVD

I have trawled these boards (& others) and cannot find an appropriate solution

Many thanks in advance

Thanks Sean,

From a USA Sony site it appears that if you use an optical cable you can only control the sound bar volume via its own remote not the TV/Sky remote unless you use the optical cable in parallel with a hdmi cable

My problem is the tv doesn’t have enough HDMI sockets in the first place

i am now using an audio cable from the headphone socket in the tv to the rca sockets in the sound bar and setting the tv output to audio system

Hi HobGoblin67 ,

Using one remote control to control more than one device is part of the HDMI CEC AKA Bravia Sync control which only works when the devices are connected via HDMI.

If you've a device that supports pass through or if you have an amp you can use it to connect more devices via HDMI.
