The TV doesn't appear as a device either when trying to cast from the YouTube or YouTube Music apps. TV is connected via LAN to the router, not WIFI. This issue only occurred in the last week.
Hi,
To my knowledge the TV must be connected to the WiFi network - not LAN.
Cheers
Peter
Is this a new change? The TV was always connected via LAN and I could view the guide and I could also view it as a device I could cast to. The two problems have only occurred in the last week or so. There is another post on the forum about this issue:

Do you have the latest software version on your TV?
PS: I'm not sure about the guide, but I'm pretty sure casting needs the same network, so WiFi in this case.
No, I'm on V3.004. The TV says it's the latest version, but support say it's 3.006 and has to be manually updated if the TV won't auto update. Casting was working no problem from my phone and tablet, even though the TV wasn't connected via WIFI to the router. I'm reluctant to attempt a firmware upgrade because of the risk of it failing and then nothing working, so I'm hoping someone has found a simpler solution.
I'm thinking the guide might be provided by a third party, and they're just not supporting it anymore on older TVs? The Discover button doesn't show any program information either in each channel square.
The update was released earlier this month, so it would explain your current software being "out of date" with the guide so to speak.
Maybe try using a mobile hotspot instead of the home network?

I updated firmware to V3.006. This didn't resolve the problem. Also I tried using a wireless connection to my router instead of direct via Ethernet cable, but that didn't work either.
My KDL 42W706B has for the last 2 days lost its programme guide. Pressing the Guide button leads to a 'Not available' message on screen. Network connection is working fine. Channels (Satellite- 'cos I don't use the freeview as too weak here) are all set up correctly with the correct guide info for each of the channels we use. The guide is powered over the internet by Gracenote I believe. TV is running the latest software version 3.006.. HELP!
Update on my earlier post here today: Also, same problem as Eagbug originally posted here in that casting youtube from laptop - the TV does not respond to the casting request, but does work using the amazon fire stick plugged in when choosing to cast to that device which is plugged into the TV. Also, when pressing the Discover button on the remote, there is no programme info or images in the scrolling menu boxes for each of the channels, same as Eagbug reported.
