My phone is new and I took some photos with flash. No problem. But today after taking a pic with flash a purple spot(smear) has appered on the camera screen. Now all the pictures I take, even without flash have that purple spot on it. What could be the problem ? Sony please help !

Same problem for me from last few days. My phone was running on GB & i noticed Yellow spots in camera & Pic it took. I tried to repair using PCC & SUS. But i could finally arrive in ICS through SUS. Now Pic / Video comes in purple colour with Yellow Spots. I am totally disappointed with Sony . First a DIgitizer replacement & now Camera. Firends if you know any workaround please help me fix it.

I've just had the same problem regarding the camera, purple color and yellow spots on the left. I can confirm that it's just a bug problem, since it happened after my last update to ICS version 6.1.1.B.1.89.

I tried reinstalling the software thanks to sony update, unfortunately with no useful results. After some attempts, I realized that the problem was related to the white balance of the camera. If it's left to "auto" the camera works perfectly when taking pictures outside, but in low light conditions it has the purple color problem: try to set the white balance to "diurnal" or "cloudy". The camera works just fine in any condition!!! I've noticed also that if you select "diurnal" or "cloudy" and then you reset the white balance back to "auto" the camera will still work good in any light conditions. However, if left to "auto", when you close and reopen the camera app the problem will represent itself. So the action of reselecting the correct white balance has to be performed everytime the camera app is opened.
