low audio volume when using bluetooth

I have an Audi A3 with built in bluetooth handsfree. When I use the phone in the car the volume is so low that it is impossible to hear.
I have tried increasing the volumes on the phone and car with no difference. As I am in the car a lot I need this functionality.
Any advice?

This is an issue that has happened with a lot of Sony Xperia Android phones.  Based on my experience, Sony has finally released a software version that addresses the problem.

Update to new software version 12.1.A.1.201 with Android 4.3, there appear to be improvements that make Bluetooth servicable if not perfect.

With .205 FW the volume is very low in my bluetooth handsfree!

The volume is so low that it's impossible to hear.

What can i do to increase the volume?

I've got the same issue - before Android 4.3.

Now my HF set volume level is OK, what about update 12.1.A.1.207 - if it is available for you - install it and try...

I'm following this issue since quite some time, currently on 12.1.A.1.205 and the TH volume when talking is useless.
Interested to hear if rooting would make a way around this issue.
