I'm posting this here because I can't seem to answer a question on German Sony community forum.
Someone there has a problem with Hap Music Transfer program not functioning with OSX 10.9.
I found a solution to this. HMT program must be allowed in firewall settings. When I did that, the program found my Sony player and I can now transfer music files to and from the player.
