I have had this tv since May last year, it had to have a new main circuit board in Sept., Not good for a Sony product. The fault started with the tv unable to get the BBC red button service though we could get it on the freeview recorder. If the red button was pressed it stopped the numeric key pad from working, eventally the channel would freeze and no buttons worked. A factory reset did not help. The red button problem has returned so I checked the software version and it says V8.542 which is what it was last year during the problem. The Sony site says there is a firmware update to V8.602 but my tv says it is up to date. My model is listed for the V8.602 update so why can't the tv update it? I was hoping it would update to see if the red button problem could be solved.

Hi,
Please check the following support article for further information in regards to the red button behaviour:

I am aware that the red button service can work when connected to the internet. We usually have the wi- fi off as we do not use it much, only 2 or 3 times since last May to watch a missed programme. The red button service without the internet was working fine until 2 days ago, as I said there must be a fault somewhere as if you press the red button it disables the numerical buttons and it took ages to get them working again. Also any answer to update query? Thanks for replying though.
Sometimes the TV is unable to see a new/recent update (sometimes due to it being disconnected for a while, but this isn't really something confirmed AFAIK).
Try the USB stick method mentioned on the download page.
Thanks Joe, looks like I will have to try that method.
