Hi Thalamus!
Thanks for your reply. Actually I have made a fresh install using a Vista home premium as that I think was the only option I was left with. I received a call from sony helpcentre today morning & they informed me that they would have to collect my laptop for repairs which would cost me atleast £120. This only left me with the economical option of trying to fix it myself.
I now have my laptop up & running like charm with windows vista. I wonder if I still have the recovery partition on my hard drive as while installing vista it only showed 93 gb of memory where as I have 100gb. In that case if I still have the recovery partition will it be safe to delete it as I have already made the recovery disks, also what applications would you suggest I should get back from the application recovery disk? ( actually I do not see the need of any as club vaio software is a nightmare! & any way all my hardware is working well.)
(Note: I used the windows vista software from dell that came with my wife's dell laptop)

Hi Friends!
This is my first post here hope I get some help, I tried getting help from the vaio esupport but its been about three days now & have had no reply from them yet!!!
Anyway, my problem is that; my laptop ( VAIO VGN-C2M) was getting pretty slow & my Wireless was not detecting any wireless networks including my home network, so I decided to run the Vaio recovery tool but each time I tried to access it I got a message that the utility could not open as the file xyz(I forgot the name).dll could not be found. So I tried recovery with the recovery disc I created, but it could not complete the recovery as each time I got an error message after it went half way through the recovery process & prompted me to recover again. After spending hours trying to recover my laptop I gave up as it just wouldnt complete the recovery process & now each time I turn my laptop on without the recovery disk I get a message " operating system not found" . I left it as is & mailed vaio esupport but after waiting for days without any reply , I ran the wipe & erase through the recovery disk. Now I would like to know how should I get my laptop back to work as I cant find my original MS windows vista disk, also is there any way i can recover the OS from the application recovery disk if not can I use a MSwindows XP that I have with me? Also I would like to know if the recovery partition on my laptop will still be there with all the applications in it ? as I have ran the wipe & erase tool.
Thanks in advance!

Hi webcrazed and welcome.

I would try running the recovery from the hard drive. Attach the AC adapter and boot the Vaio.
At the first Vaio Logo Screen, tap F10 repeatedly. This should start the Recovery and you should follow the on screen instructions for a complete recovery. Do not disturb the recovery even if it appears to have stopped - it may take several hours.

If the Recovery Partition has been damaged or erased, you will need to buy replacement Recovery Discs from Sony.

Are you still within warranty? It is often better to telephone Sony Support here: -

http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/contacts/contacts.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&tp=vaio&cc=en_GB&cm=phone
