Audio from a Mixer ONLY

I have a HDR-PJ780VE Camcorder and would like to record some band sessions that we do.

I don't want to use the onboard microphone rather, have sound coming from my mixer directly into the Camcorder.

Can this be done and if so, what input socket to the Camcorder do I use?

I'm quite sure there is a stereomic jack, classic type on the camera. You can plug in any microphone.

My post relates to using a mixer output in to the camcorder. I am fully aware I can plug an external microphone in to it !!!

It iis just the same same with plugging in the mixer, you even connect it to the same connector, you would connect a microphone to it.

You may need to adapt the output of the mixer to a 3.5mm audio jack (e.g. chinch to 3.5mm).
