Hi,

I have Xperia S (LT26i) and i tried to update my phone to 6.2.b.1.96 firmware using PC Companion bu couldn't accomplished. It gave a error after long pressing the volume down button and starting the firmware update process. So i had to turn back to old firmware.

Secondly my phone is so slow. Facebook is opening approximately 20-25 secs. and gives "facebook is not responding" messages while using. Same is for telephone and browser. I factory resetted the phone a couple months ago and i dont want to reset the phone regularly.

Can you give me an advice? Thanks in advance...

Phone says "New system update available" when i clicked says "Can only be updated by computer" (pc companion). Current firmware is 6.2.b.0.200. By the way Phone is never rooted. (even i tried it but did not permit)

I dont understand what you mean by clean update.

----

Edit: Ok, i could updated the older firmware to 6.2.b.1.96 using newer (latest version of) PC companion. My only problem is slowing problem and a lot of people already asked it.

if i load a different android mod, could it be faster and more responsive?

Thanks in advance...

A clean update

Performing a system repair using PC Companion - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

thaks for detailed explantion Thommo.

one more question, would you recommend to install a different android mod in order to achieve more responsive and faster usage?

Keep it stock but the issue I think you have is that the XS is now almost 4 years old and apps are getting larger and more power hungry as more and more features are added which inturn draws or requires more power
