I just wanted to reply that this worked for me. I recently got a Sony Xperia Z3. Tonight, for some reason, it would not respond after charging. In the upper left crorner where normally it was a green LED or flashing blue LED, I had a yellow LED light. The phone would not respond. I could restart it by holding down power & volume, but I would loop on the error that Xperia Home stopped working.

I swiped down from the notification bar and went to Settings, Apps, All, Xperia Home and cleared the data. I had to restart and my phone is responsive again. I think it had to do with a theme I downloaded. I had the Miles Davis Kind of Blue theme installed. Anyways, I am going back to stock desktop for now because I cannot afford to lose my phone's functionality.

It's only been a month that I've had this phone and I've loved it so far. I'd hate to have an issue with it now.

EDIT: I see this is an Experia J support forum but it was the first response on google when I queried "sony z3 xperia home has stopped" so maybe it will help others in the future.

If the suggestion above doesn't help I would suggest that you try to boot your phone into safe mode to see if the problem may be related to any 3rd party app that you have installed in your phone:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008#U348008

My Sony xperia z3 compact says the same thing. I can't access anything and the popup stays on the screen. I tried starting it in safe mode, but it is still unaccessable. I tried to restore it from my computer, but it only backed it up and wont restore. It's a brick! What can I do?

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Z3 Compact.
Can you please take a screenshot of this error message and post it here? To take a screenshot, hold the on/off button and then select "Take screenshot".

Then try to clear data for the app called Xperia Home by sliding down the status bar at the top and select Quick settings -> Settings -> Apps -> All -> Xperia Home -> Clear data -> OK and then restart the phone.
Note that this will reset your configuration of the home screen.

I have the same issue. Using a custom launcher (Solo) so the phone is still usable as I can clear the pop-up by pressing OK. But where is the support from Sony for this?? Google the issue and it's widespread, and only appears to have become prevalent recently, which implicates recent updates.

Sony Support - please assist. What info do you want from me to help resolve this??

EDIT - I've just observed that this an Xperia J forum. Apologies, my handset is actually a Z3 Compact. The issue is still the same though, so support is still required!

I had this problem. Here's how I solved it.

- two-finger swipe from the top of the screen to get to "Quick Settings"

- selected "Settings"

- "Apps" -> "All" -> "Xperia Home" -> "Clear Data"

- this casuses your home screen layout and some app login stuff (like facebook and twitter) to get reset, so you have to re-login to a few things, and re-layout your home screens, but, at least the dialog went away.

I have a Z3 that suddenly stopped working tonight.

It just says "unfortunately Xperia Home stopped" and "unfortunately email stopped". I can not access anything and I get the same messages in Safe Mode.

It is not possible to access anything, if I try to swipe from notification board and use quick settings the phone freeze and goes off.
I can swipe in my pattern and I instantly get a blinking message as stated above.

I have not added any apps lately and my phone are not used for internet purposes much. So the advices stated in this article does not work on my phone.
No, i can not take a screen shot, because, phone is frozen

The phone has never been dropped and has a cover on as well

Sorry to hear that.

One thing you can try if your phone has internet is to download and install another launcher. To do that, go to play.google.com using a computer, logon with your Google account, select a launcher, click Install and then select your phone. You can for example try this launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher

Wait a few minutes so that the phone has time to download and install the app (this is done automatically if it's connected to the internet) and then restart the phone. When it starts it should ask if you want to use Xperia Home or Nova Launcher. Select Nova Launcher and then see if you can access Settings and clear data for Xperia Home. Then you can switch back to Xperia Home under Settings -> Home.

If this doesn't help i recommend that you perform a repair of the phones software using a computer. You can download software for this from http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiaz3/software/.
