Xperia SP video recording limit?

When I record video, it seems to stop once the file size has reached 3.8GB. I've changed from Full HD to 720p and even though it records for longer, it still stops once the video is 3.8GB in size. I figured it could be the memory card, so swapped that for a 16GB card, but the same thing happens.

Is this just a random thing or is there some way to get it to record videos over 3.8GB?

It's not possible to save files over 4GB due to FAT 32 file structure.

Does that also means,if i have a 4GB movie,it will not be playable on SD Card with FAT32 file structure?

Due to the limitation of FAT32 file system you can't store files more than 4gb. That means you can't store a movie which is greater than 4gb in your sd card so playing is not an option.

The constraint of FAT32 file system, is it only related to SP or all other big boys like Z, ZR, galaxy 4 are also a victim ????

SP,Z,ZR,S4 and many other phones support EXFat file system. If you use a sd card which is greater than 4gb try formatting it with EXfat file system it will remove the 4gb limit.

is there gonna be any update for sp to support NTFS ?? coz FAT32 dosent supports copying files more than 4 GB's

But Android has 2GB file system as far as I know.

@electro_nik why you need NTFS when exFAT is already there. just format your sd card with exFAT and you can copy files greater than 4 GB.

FAT32 is not the only restriction for recording large videos, I remember I read somewhere that some DSLR cameras have a time limit when recording video or else they would be treated/taxed as Video cameras from the customs point of view. I think this only applies to some countries, but if it's not related to this exFat is the way to go or EXT4 if you're on Linux, idk hows the support for exFat in Mac
