Update 1.6 to 2.1 Guatemala

Hey!!! I bought my x10 mini pro 2 weeks ago and i really want to update the OS from 1.6 to 2.1, i tried to use the PC companion but it says that i already have the latest update,

i read that i can update my phone by other ways but i haven't tried any of that because i have the felling that my phone would turn into a brick or make the phone useless.

Can someone please tell me how can I update my OS to 2.1 without losing the 3G or any other funcionality?

My phone info is:

Model number: U20a

Firmware version: 1.6

Baseband version: unknown

Kernel version: 2.6.29 SEMCUser@SMCHost #1

Build numbrer: 1.2.A.1.181

Operator: Claro Guatemala

I'd be really greatful if someone could help me.

SEUS (sony ericsson Update Service) is far more reliable

if you still can't get an update there other methods and NO you won't brick your phone, if you do, you can always repair it quite simple (just repeat the process)

check this thread so you can backup your phone BEFORE you do the update or flash the update

this is how to update your phone

rooting and/or flashing firmware other than the one offered through PCCompanion or Update Service could violate your warranty (unless is restore to its original firmware)

if you decide to proceed

download the firmware and Flashtool from this link

Ok, the sony ericsson Update Service didn't work so now i want to use the flashtool to do the update, but the link you posted it's for x10 MINI and clearly says "Works on x10 Mini not x10 Mini Pro.

Do you have a link for a website where i can find the firmware for x10 mini pro?

The firmware to download on the website is U20i.

Do you know if the 3G work on U20i?

Sony Ericsson won't release 2.2 or above, there are ways around it

Hey thanks for all the info. you gave me; and about the firmwares: which one is better?

Do i have to return my phone to 1.6 to try another firmware or i just flash it to another one with the one i already installed? (in this case the Nordic)

2.1 UK

2.1 French

2.1 german

2.1 NL (i don't know what this is)

I installed the nordic but the buttons "," "." and the "?" have change, everytime i type one of those, a weird letter comes out and i don't want to do all that tutorial

to change the keyboard to normal.

Do you know which one leaves the keyboard running like the way it should?

the UK or Global Generic will be the best way to do (NL = netherlands)

you don't have to flash back to 1.6, you can flash directly from the 2.1 that you have right now

Hi I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 and I am so so confused. :'( About 2 weeks ago I got the Xperia X8 andt it's perfect but the only fault is that I can't receive text messages please could you help me? I've updated it loads from that PC Companion thing and it's still not working. Please help me anybody. Thanks. :'(
