Synchronisation

Hi,

I recently had to re-install my system on my phone (Xperia x10 mini) due to some isssues with one of the apps. Because the phone wasn't stable at that time I didn't get a chance to run a backup prior to re-installing it. I thought it wouldn't matter too much since my most valuable data - my contacts - were synched with Sony Ericsson.

I was wrong.

My contacts are well and truly on my Sony Ericssion website (can acess them via the website) but I can not setup the synchronisation on my phone to transfer them on to it.

I follow the below steps:

1. Settings

2. Account & sync

3. add account

4. Sony Ericsson Sync

5. it re-directs me to a Sony Ericsson login screen

6. I enter my login and password (same details as the ones used to login via Sony's website) and click on "log in"

7. nothing happens. hours later still nothing.

On the login screen I have also the option to sign up or reset my password. These two options work fine but not the login option.

Any idea what's wrong?

Can I export my contacts from the website into some .csv files or else?

It is quite frustrating to know that my contacts are on that website but I can not access them.

Check if you might be able to create the sync account manually in the phone.

1. Go to Community at www.sonyericsson.com. There should be a link saying "setup sync" or "add a new phone" on the first page when you have logged in. Click this link.

2. Choose W995 as your phone (wrong phone model on purpose). Click next.

3. Enter a incorrect phone number and then click next.

4. Wait for the new popup and then click the link "If you don't get a text message...".

5. In the new popup you click the link "click here to add sync settings manually".

6. Now, in the phone and go to Settings > Accounts & sync > Add new account > SyncML.

7. Ignore the instructions given on the website. Just look at the information since the instructions are for W995.

8. The username and password is the info you get on the page here and not the same you use when you login on the community.

9. When you tap on "Contacts" in the phone it asks for a server address at the top. Here you should enter "con" and then leave user and pass empty.
