Typing by sliding doesn't work when word suggestions are turned off

Hi,

I wonder why Gesture input enabling typing by sliding on the keyboard is greyed out when I turn off word suggestions? I don't want word suggestions and I often don't type in English, but I'd still like to be able to type without lifting my finger from the keyboard. Anyone knows if this can be done on Android Lollipop?

Well, the whole point of this gesture typing is that the phone suggests word based on which letters you swipe your finger over. If it would not be suggesting any word you wouldn't be able to type any words at all, as you could only make up words with the letters that are next to each other on the keyboard.

Thank you for the help. I don't know how slide typing works technically, thought it was possible for it to work independently from word suggestions.
